Carriage Mounted Spreader Bars - As the name implies, this mast consists of 3 parts. The outside part mounts securely to the lift truck. The next intermediate section telescopes within the external part. The innermost part telescopes inside of the intermediate section. The inner section and the intermediate section both raise when the lift cylinders extend. Once again in this model, the fork carriage rides inside the internal section. The 3 stage mast provides a shorter lowered height compared to the 2 stage mast. The common usage of the 3 stage mast is in areas such as doorways where overhead clearances are restricted. This mast is usually outfitted with a center cylinder to let the fork carriage raise a few distance before the mast sections commence lengthening.
The 2 Stage Mast includes two sections. The internal section telescopes within the outer and raises while the lift cylinders lengthen. The external section of this particular mast model is mounted to the lift truck. The fork carriage is actually located within the inner part. This mast type has a taller lowered height compared to an equivalent lift height quad mast or 3 stage mast.
